The Building Blocks of Schedules
Stages
Stages are groupings of tasks. The stages can be manually ordered at community or other project level. Once they are re-ordered from settings it overrides the stage ordering based on task data
Milestones
Milestones are not tasks and no action need to be taken on them but they represent certain points in the completion of a project
Constraints/Allowances -
Constraints are events that must occur prior to a task being completed but they are not just other tasks but they are not just tasks.
Allowances are events (not tasks) that are automatically triggered by the completion of a task or a group of tasks.
Task Library
The Task Library is the database or “library” where all of the global tasks are managed.
Global Tasks
Tasks that are managed globally and then exist in individual project schedules.
Task Variant
Global tasks can have variants that are specific to a market.
Sorting your Stages
If you want to set an order for how “Stages” in the schedule will appear that can be done so in the “Community”. Navigate to Project Settings then Community. The Stage Order can be dragged and dropped.
Filtering or Grouping Your Schedule
To start with, Schedules can be Filtered. Grouped or Searched at the top. Many users will often Group by the Schedule by Stage or edit Filters to show tasks that have a status of Completed. If you are looking for a specific task it is easy to use the search bar at the top.
Updating the Schedule
You can easily update the schedule from the main page and each row represents a task. The latest Blueprint project schedule will automatically be in a “Draft” state when a change is made. Changes can then either be Discarded or Published
When the changes are published you will need to go through the Publish workflow where trades can be notified of any schedule changes. Notifying trades can also be skipped at this step as well.
Assigning Trades
Trades can be assigned manually but ideally Trades will be assigned based on what POs have been released in the project and how cost allocations are set up.
Trade Status
You can update the Trade Status manually but the status will default to “Not Sent”. Once you click the ✉️ to the right and request confirmation by sending emails to trades the status will automatically update to “Needs Confirmation”. Once the trade confirms the dates of the task in the Trade Portal then the status will be changed to “Confirmed”.
Bulk Sending Requests for Confirmation
Under the Actions menu you can send all requests for confirmation at once to Trades who are assigned to tasks in the schedule
Task Status
Task Status can be updated from “Not Started” to “In Progress” and then “Complete”. Task status can be updated in the row, in the drawer on the right or in the Field App.
Changing the Start or End Date of a task will potentially cause other tasks to auto-move based on “allowances” and “constraints”. When the start date of a task is pushed back then the task will auto pin. Unpinning the task will cause the dates to revert to where they should be in the schedule based on other task dates.
