The concept of a Task Catalog standardizes tasks across projects. This allows the flexibility for every schedule to consist of the appropriate combination of tasks that a plan requires, while providing consistency across them. The Task Catalog replaces schedule templates. Tasks in the Catalog are associated with Materials that will be included a Plans Takeoffs. Tasks are are associated with Materials and Cost so when Labor or Material are added to a Plans Takeoffs the task will be included and eventually added to a project's schedule. Here is how to add a new Task to the task catalog. Here is how to add a Task to the Catalog:
Navigate to the Task Library
From the Global Menu Bar navigate to Libraries/Tasks
Create a New Task
Click the blue "Create" button at the top right and give the Task a Name
General Task Details
Here you can enter an external name which will be visible to trades in the trade portal. The Trade Partner Category will help dictate which trades can be assigned to this task. The task can be allocated to a budget item which will be the category of labor that the task is associated with. When that budget item is added to the Takeoffs then that task will be included.
Here you can select a Team and Role which will assign the task to a role in project schedules.
The task can be specific to a Market and/or Development or that field can be left blank. For example, if there is a task related to foundation or permitting that would only take place in a specific market.
A box can be checked if the task should automatically be included in project schedules regardless of takeoffs.
Finally, tags can also be added to the task.
Scheduling
Under this section you can indicate which "Stage" that the task belongs in. Project schedules will be ordered by stages. Se below:
Materials and Cost
Under this section is where you will add the item code. The Item Code connects an Item to a Task so labor is included in the Takeoffs. For example if Countertops are added to a plans takeoffs then Install Countertops will also be added as a Labor Task to the takeoffs.
Here you can also add an Expected Labor Cost to be included in a project's budget.
Documents
Required Documents can also be added. For example you can require that users upload a Certificate of Occupancy when marking a task complete.
Verification Checklist
Finally you can use a verification checklist to ensure all work is completed correctly before marking the task as complete
