What is a ReadyPlan Template? 🤔
Essentially, a ReadyPlan template lays out a ReadyPlan's scope. That is, a list of line items needed to build that plan. These templates exist at a development level and do not belong to any lot in particular. ReadyPlan templates are made up of base and option scope.

Why did we do this? 🤷🏽
By creating scope templates at a development level, we are building a framework to bulk manage lots in a development.
The flow goes as follows: A&D sets the available plans and options in a development, which creates empty templates. Procurement fills in the scope of the templates and uses them to generate development contracts. Through the lot configuration process, these templates are applied to individual lots.

4 steps to create a ReadyPlan templates. 🏠
Step 1: Create Empty Templates
Navigate to the Templates tab within a development. If A&D has added new plans and options, a banner will appear stating: "New ReadyPlans and Options have been added and templates are ready to be created". Click Create templates to open a modal previewing the whole house and option templates that will be generated. Click Create templates.
✐ Note: Whole house templates are made up of a plan, an elevation, and an exterior scheme.
Step 2: Add Scope to Your Base House
Build out the scope of the template by clicking the Add Items dropdown menu in the upper right. You can add items from a template, from an existing whole house template, from an import, or as new items. For line items that vary by spec level, check the box in the column marked 'Spec Level' to add separate lines for each spec level in that development.
Once you have finished adding scope to your template, change its status to Active.
✐ Note: By marking a template Active, bid requests and development contracts can be issued for that plan or option.
Step 3: Add Scope to Your Options
On your option template's page, click Add Items to open a dropdown menu. You have three choices:
- Items to be Added: This will add new items to the whole house template. Each item must have at least one location and one cost type.
- Items to be Modified: This allows to you to modify a line item from the whole house template. You can only choose items that exist in the parent template.
- Items to be Removed: This allows to you to completely remove a line item from the whole house template. You cannot edit any fields in this category, as the item(s) are being taken out.
Once you have finished adding scope to your template, change its status to Active.
✐ Note: When adding items, multiple locations and cost types can be selected. Doing so will populate the template with a line for every possible combination of cost type and location.
Step 4: Archive Templates
If a plan or option has been archived, then a red warning icon will appear next to the corresponding template.
To archive a template, click into it and change its status to Archived.
